Kiewit Luminarium: Functional Fungi

Make it stand out

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Come explore Functional Fungi: a hands-on workshop inviting guests to explore mycelium, the root-like network of fungi as a living, biodegradable material, and an example of the possibilities of biomimicry!

With the guidance of Tony Cineus, urban mycologist, forager, and founder of The Mushroom Block, learn to craft your own sculptural objects,  such as a coaster or totem using molds and mycelium, a material that grows and forms itself like the systems found in nature. Along the way, you’ll gain insights into the principles of biomimicry design in harmony with natural systems, processes, and forms.
